More a matter of keeping clean than maintaining… Remove organic materials from the surface, typically by using a leaf blower. Rakes may be required for removing heavier objects; however, the leaf blower is the ideal tool for general upkeep. A stiff, natural bristle broom can be used to “fluff” high traffic areas.
On some occasions, you may see some popping up along a border, or under the right conditions, weeds have been known to sprout from the top of the turf (inside the sand & rubber infill) which appear to be growing up from the bottom. Both situations can be treated with common weed killers such as Round-Up™ or any other weed deterrent you prefer as these chemicals will not damage the turf.
We haven’t come across anything that can stain it yet. Sticky spills should be hosed off to prevent them from attracting dirt and bugs. Even paint can be softened with paint remover and then rinsed off.
There is little maintenance for artificial grass. Occasional blowing off of debris and cleaning up after pets. You also want to brush up your grass with a push broom occasionally. The infill can be added every couple of years to ensure longevity and durability.
Infill is sand that goes on top of your turf after installation to help with durability, appearance, and odor. Fairway Turf & Artificial Grass LLC uses Envirofill for its installations which is not initially included in the estimate and would be an add-on cost. This is not required but is highly recommended.
The grass does not stay as cool as natural grass which has water running through it, but it does not absorb and radiate heat like pavement, rock, or brick. Even though summer heat, your lawn will remain pleasantly functional. On those days that are exceedingly warm, simply hose off your lawn to cool it down.
Envirofill artificial turf infill is a non-toxic, antimicrobial, eco-friendly, impact absorbing, and completely reusable synthetic turf infill material made up of naturally occurring silica sand from the USA. With Envirofill, you can be confident that your children and pets are safe in your artificial lawn. Envirofill infill locks out moisture from the outdoor turf and will not absorb water or pet waste and will help prevent the growth of mold, mildew, and bacteria that can cause odors, stains and product deterioration. It’s cleaner. Microban® antimicrobial protection is infused into Envirofill during the manufacturing process to help prevent the growth of bacteria, mold, and mildew that can cause stains, odors, and product deterioration.
Sustainable. Because of its superior durability, Envirofill’s coating and color are warrantied for 16 years. When your turf wears out and needs replacement, Envirofill has the potential to be reused in your new turf.
